1 Log into the server where Enforce is installed.
2 Click on the start menu and search for the Services application, open it to see a list of services that are currently running.
2 From the Services menu scroll down to the section where the Symantec services are running, they will follow the Vontu naming convention;
3 Stop all running services in the following order:
- VontuMonitorController (if applicable)
- VontuIncidentPersister
- VontuManager
- VontuNotifier
- VontuUpdate (if necessary)
4 Confirms that all of these have stopped and log off from the Enforce server.
5 Log into the server where Oracle is installed and navigate to the services window again.
6 Stop all running services that are related to Oracle.
7 You may now continue the process of updating and patching the servers as per usual.
8 Once patched and rebooted, log back onto the Oracle server and check all the correct services are running, if not then restart them and check their status:
- Oracle PROTECT VSS Writer Service
- OracleJobSchedulerPROTECT
- OracleMTSRecoveryService
- OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
- OracleServicePROTECT
9 Once they have started, log into the Enforce server and do the same check for the Vontu Services on the list. If they are not running as intended, Stop all of them in the order above (Step 3).
10 Once all the services have fully stopped you can begin to restart them, be sure to Start the services in the following order:
- VontuNotifier
- VontuManager
- VontuIncidentPersister
- VontuMonitorController (if applicable)
- VontuUpdate (if necessary)
11 Wait until all these services are running correctly, you may then resume using Symantec DLP.
